چکیده

Abstract To study the effect of marine shell powder (SP) on mechanical properties cement solidified coastal clay (CSC), unconfined compressive strength test, freeze-thaw cycle test and Scanning Electron Microscope were conducted stabilized soil. The results show that SP could improve CSC to some extent. When content was 15%, highest. Moreover, under condition cycle, can enhance compactness cement-clay, which shows pore area decreases by 7.2% during 7 cycles. Finally, a mathematical empirical model strength, cycles cement-clay modified seashell (SPCSC) specimens established. has good relevance with investigated data, give theoretical foundation for improving performance using different environments.

Effect of freeze-thaw cycle on strength and rock strength parameters (A Lushan sandstone case study)

In an era of continued economic development around the globe, numerous rock-related projects including mining and gas/oil exploration are undertaken in regions with cold climates. Winters in the Iranian western and northwestern provinces are characterized by a high precipitation rate and a cold weather. Under such conditions, rocks are exposed to long freezing periods and several freeze-thaw (F...

Strength Characteristics of Clay Mixtures with Waste Materials in Freeze-Thaw Cycles

Waste tires, rubbers, plastic and steel materials, normally produced in every society, enter the environment and cause serious problems. These problems may, to some extent, be reduced by finding applications for them in engineering, for example, they can be used for geotechnical applications as backfill material and solving problems with low shear strength soils. Such materials may be subjected...

Freeze-Thaw Resistance of Concretes with BFSA

Abstract—Air-cooled Blast Furnace Slag Aggregate (BFSA) is usually referred to as a material providing for unique properties of concrete. On the other hand, negative influences are also presented in many aspects. The freeze-thaw resistance of concrete is dependent on many factors, including regional specifics and when a concrete mix is specified it is still difficult to tell its exact freeze-th...

Permeability Characteristics of Compacted and Stabilized Clay with Cement, Peat Ash and Silica Sand

The present paper investigates the influence of stabilization with cement, peat ash, and silica sand on permeability coefficient (kv) of compacted clay, using a novel approach to stabilize the clay with peat ash as a supplementary material of cement in the compacted and stabilized soil. In order to assess the mentioned influence, test specimens of both untreated and stabilized soil have been te...

Mechanical Properties of Low Plasticity Clay Soil Stabilized with Iron Ore Mine Tailing and Portland Cement

Due to economical and environmental issues, utilization of mineral wastes, e.g. iron ore mine tailing (IOMT), as road materials can be recommended as a sustainable alternative. In the present study, mechanical properties, as well as resistance to freezing and thawing cycles (F-T) of low plasticity clay soil stabilized with different percentages of Portland cement (0, 6, 9, 12 and 15%) and diffe...
